Installing Wiki on Oracle Webcenter Suite

Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2.0) provides Oracle WebCenter Suite to help developers build more effective applications that weave transactions, process, business
intelligence, structured and unstructured content, communication, and Web 2.0-style services into a highly productive and contextually rich on-line work environment.

What is a Wiki?
A wiki is a type of Web site where users can browse available content, update, remove, and otherwise edit the content, sometimes without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and the variety of operations makes wiki an effective tool for collaborative authoring, where multiple people create written content together using the wiki markup language.

System Requirements

The installer checks many of these requirements at the start of the installation process and warns you if any of them is not met. To save time, you can manually check only the ones that are not checked by the installer.
You can also run the system checks performed by the installer without doing an installation, by running the runInstaller command as shown. The runInstaller command is on the Oracle Application Server CD-ROM (Disk 1) or DVD-ROM (in the application_server directory).
CD-ROM:
          Prompt> mount_point/runInstaller -executeSysPrereqs

·                     DVD-ROM (assumes K: is the DVD-ROM drive):
·                     K:\> cd application_server
·                     K:\application_server> setup.exe –executeSysPrereqs

Ø             Memory   Ø             160 MB
Ø             Notes:
Ø             For the Oracle Content Database installation option, Oracle recommends having at least 1 GB RAM.

Ø             The installer checks the amount of memory on your computer and will warn you if your computer does not meet the minimum memory requirements.

Ø             To determine the optimal amount of memory for your installation, the best practice is to load test your site. Resource requirements can vary substantially for different applications and different usage patterns. In addition, some operating system utilities for monitoring memory can overstate memory usage, partially due to the representation of shared memory. The preferred method for determining memory requirements is to monitor the improvement in performance resulting from the addition of physical memory in your load test. Refer to your platform vendor documentation for information on how to configure memory and processor resources for testing purposes.

Ø             Checked by Installer: Yes

Installation Steps

From the Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 CD unzip “owc_wiki.ear” file.
Now open the Web Center Suite’Application Server Control web page.
Log in as an administrator user.
Click the Oracle Application Server instance to go to its application server page.
Create a new OC4J instance to contain Oracle WebCenter Wiki.

Fill in the values for your new OC4J instance. Be sure to check Start this OC4J instance after creation, then click Create.
Click the name of OC4J instance to which you plan to deploy wiki. The Home tab displays.
          Click the Applications tab.
          Click the deploy button.

Choose the location of the EAR file and specify the path. The name of the oracle WIKI file is "owc_wiki.ear".

Select the option “Automatically create a new deployment plan”.
          Click Next.
Enter Application Name like owc_wiki and set the Context Root also to something similar to the application name.

          Click Next.
Verify whether the deployment settings is as follows ->

Click Deploy. Once the deployment has completed successfully, you see a confirmation message.

Next you have to configure the security. To verify that Java SSO is running, go back to Enterprise Manager and start the OC4J instance. Java SSO should appear as an application under the OC4J instance. Once the instance is started, confirm that Java SSO is running. If Java SSO is down, then start it. When you start Java SSO, you may get a warning message that Java SSO is not properly configured. This warning indicates that you are running multiple Java SSO applications in a cluster.

Next under the OC4J instance where you installed Oracle WebCenter Wiki, locate the deployed Oracle WebCenter Wiki application. The application root should be similar to owc_wiki.

          Click the application.

          Click the owc_wiki module.

          Click the Administration tab.

On the Administration page, click Environment Entry Mappings.

Locate the task: Environment Entry Mappings and update the value for

Update the value with a new passphrase., which is an arbitrary value that you create, then click OK. When you update the deployed value, deploying the application again will not overwrite the value you have set.

Once the above step has been done successfully, your wiki is fully configured. You can access the wiki using the following URL ->

          wiki                                 http://host:port/owc_wiki
